Frequently asked questions

The short answers to what people ask us most. Still curious? Reach out at hello@stresscheck.app.

Is Stress Check a medical diagnosis?

No. Stress Check is a self-reported reflection tool. It does not diagnose stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, or any medical or psychological condition. If you have concerns about your health, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional.

How accurate is the assessment?

The questions are inspired by widely used self-report frameworks such as the Perceived Stress Scale, adapted with plain, non-clinical wording. Your score is a snapshot of how you answered on one day — it is not a clinical measure and should not be treated as one.

How is my score calculated?

Each question is scored on a 0–4 frequency scale. Positively worded items are reverse-scored, then all items are averaged and rescaled to 0–100. Categories are: Low (0–25), Mild (26–50), Moderate (51–75), and High (76–100).

What domains does the assessment cover?

Perceived stress, sleep, work and study demands, emotional well-being, ability to relax, concentration, energy, and lifestyle habits.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Stress Check works fully anonymously and never asks you to sign in. You can take the assessment and view your results without registering.

Is my information stored on your servers?

No. Your answers stay in your browser's session storage while you complete the assessment and view your results. Closing the tab clears them. Nothing is sent to a server for storage.

Do you use cookies?

The core assessment uses only local browser storage — not tracking cookies. If optional analytics are enabled by the site operator, they run in a cookieless / consent-denied mode by default. See the Cookie Policy for details.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes. Stress Check is designed to work well on phones, tablets, laptops, and large screens.

Can stress affect sleep?

Research consistently links elevated stress with difficulty falling or staying asleep, and with feeling unrested on waking. Small, consistent wind-down habits often help — but if sleep problems persist, please talk to a qualified professional.

Can stress affect concentration?

Yes. When you are under sustained pressure, working memory and focus often take the biggest hit. Short focused blocks, single-tasking, and brief outdoor breaks can help you feel clearer.

How long does the assessment take?

About 3 to 5 minutes for most people. You can go back and change any answer before submitting.

How often should I take it?

There is no fixed schedule. Some people check in weekly; others prefer monthly, or only when they notice a shift. Because your answers reset with the tab, take it whenever a reflection would be useful.

What should I do if my score is High?

A High result suggests a lot has been asking a lot of you. Consider what you can lighten, and reach out to someone you trust — a friend, family member, or a qualified mental health professional. If you are in immediate danger or having thoughts of self-harm, please contact your local emergency services or a trusted helpline right away.

Can I share my results?

Nothing is shared automatically. You can screenshot or print your snapshot if you'd like to discuss it with a professional.

Is Stress Check suitable for children?

The wording is written for adults. Stress Check is not intended for children under 16, and it is not a substitute for professional care at any age.

Is this culturally universal?

Stress and how we speak about it varies across cultures. The questions use general, non-clinical language, but interpretations may differ. Please treat your result as a personal reflection rather than a universal measurement.

Can I use this at work or with my team?

Individuals are welcome to use it for personal reflection. It is not designed as a workplace screening tool, and employers should not use it to evaluate staff.

Do you use AI to interpret my answers?

No. Your score is calculated by a simple, transparent formula in your browser. There is no AI model interpreting your responses.

Do you sell or share data with advertisers?

No. We do not sell, rent, or share your answers with advertisers or any third party.

How do I delete my data?

Closing the browser tab clears your responses. You can also press 'Clear my current results' on the Privacy page at any time.

How can I contact you?

You can reach us via the Contact page. We aim to reply within a few business days.
